Work in Progress
I have two art shows coming up in the next couple of weeks, so I thought I’d share some process pictures with you. A few different pieces here, using different mediums, but as you can see I always start with fine pen on paper.

Just wanted to share some photos from the From the Heart show at Elephant Shoes last week. I’m so honoured to have exhibited with many other talented artists, and to everyone who attended. Many thanks!
A big thank you to our photographer, Janice Tsui.

I’m very proud to be part of ‘From the Heart’ at Elephant Shoes, October 9 -14. Come on down to Bloor West and check out works by eight local Toronto artists. Reception this Friday.
Here are some new illustrations I’ve just finished. They’re both illustrated in pen and ink, and coloured digitally. The backgrounds are inspired by the gorgeous work of Joan Walsh Anglund.
Here are some new hand lettering pieces I just finished for an exhibition.
I used the same ink technique I’ve done a couple of times before, and this time experimented with resin to give them that delicious glossy sheen.
I’m currently working on a new pair of children’s illustrations. Here is a tiny snippet of the work in progress. I hope you like this little guy as much as he likes eating.
My Gentlemoose and I are among 25 semi-finalists in Ambition Competitions‘ ‘Fearless’ Visual Artist Initiative. We are honoured to be among so many talented artists!
Please check out all the amazing entries on the contest facebook page.
Here is new ink on wood piece I recently completed, ‘Water lillies’. I experimented with transferring coloured ink on to pine, I’m pleased with how it turned out.
This piece is currently on display with some canvases of mine at The Rustic Owl Cafe in Toronto.
The Sketchbook Project exhibition is currently travelling the globe! Thousands of books filled by artists, including myself, have been making their way across the USA since April. Tonight the exhibition opens in my glorious city of residence, Toronto, and will make its way to London before visiting my home town of Melbourne, Australia.
For details about the tour, please visit the Sketchbook Project 2012 World Tour.
I had a fantastic weekend at the Annex Patio Art Show, a big thank you to everyone who dropped by. I got to know some other amazing Toronto artists, and chat to lots of lovely passers by.
My favourite conversation was with a five year old boy who told me he also liked to draw. It went like this:
Me: What do you like to draw?
5 yo: (big sigh) Anything that inspires me.
Me: Do you draw things you can see, or from your imagination?
5 yo: I draw from my imagination, I draw things from the past, the present and the future.
Me: How do you know what will happen in the future?
5 yo: I predict the future.
I was impressed!
